Community Guidelines

Speak freely. Disagree clearly. Do not make somebody else unsafe.

What makes ReadChief useful

  • Authentic experience. Share what happened, what you observed, or what you genuinely believe. Label speculation and anonymous second-hand claims.
  • Educational content. Explain the context another reader would need, especially on health, money, elections and public affairs.
  • Constructive advice. Answer the question being asked. Critique the decision or argument, not the person's worth.
  • Good thread citizenship. Stay relevant, disclose conflicts, source consequential claims and correct material errors.

What we remove or restrict

  • Hate, dehumanisation or discrimination based on protected or vulnerable characteristics.
  • Harassment, credible threats, incitement, coordinated abuse or celebration of serious harm.
  • Sexual exploitation, grooming or content that endangers a child.
  • Addresses, phone numbers, identity documents, intimate media or other private information posted without a lawful reason.
  • Fraud, scams, impersonation, malicious links, spam, deceptive advertising or undisclosed commercial promotion.
  • Vote manipulation, ban evasion, fabricated engagement or coordinated inauthentic behaviour.
  • Illegal content, instructions that facilitate serious harm, or intellectual-property infringement reported through a valid notice.

Context changes the decision

Quoting abuse to report it is different from directing abuse at someone. Discussing addiction recovery is different from selling controlled substances. Moderators consider purpose, target, likelihood of harm, newsworthiness and the surrounding thread—not isolated keywords alone.

Corners may set tighter local rules

Corner rules must be visible and cannot weaken the site-wide rules. Corner moderators may remove off-topic or low-quality content and manage membership. Platform moderators handle site-wide sanctions, urgent safety, lawful notices and appeals.

Enforcement

ReadChief may warn, limit distribution, hold content for review, remove content, lock a thread, mute or ban an account, or preserve evidence when law or safety requires it. Repeated or severe violations receive stronger action. Consequential actions are logged and eligible users can file an appeal.

Report the content, not the argument

Use the Report control on the post or comment so the review includes the correct URL and context. For an urgent legal or safety notice, use the instructions on the Contact page.
