Sending Money Abroad from Nigeria Without Sacrificing your Limbs to Exchange Rates
The official CBN rate exists on paper. What your bank charges you is something else entirely. I've paid as much as ₦1,800 to a dollar when the parallel rate was ₦1,550. That's not a fee. That's theft disguised as a service.
After months of trial and error, I think you can safely rely on these two options
Grey (grey.co) Grey gives you a UK or US account number — a real one. You can receive dollars, pounds, or euros, then withdraw in naira at rates that are usually close to the parallel market. For paying international subscriptions, this is my first stop. The card works on Spotify, Netflix, AWS, you name it and you pay once for the card fee.
My second choice is Cleva. I think I've used Cleva more for its card features more than anything else. Amazing rate for conversion but the only drawback is, you have to drop $1 every time you want to convert money
The Nigerian fintech space is actually solving this problem faster than the government ever will. Use it.

3 top-level repliesNot sure Cleva is a great choice. They have a decline fee that can hurt.
